PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Technical Services Manager works closely with the Film Center Education Director, Continuing Education Coordinator, Education Outreach Coordinator, faculty and support staff to manage technical, classroom, lab and equipment support for Film Center education programs including the School of Film, Community Access Rental program and Young Filmmakers outreach program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Research, recommend and procure capitol equipment, supplies and technical services, including cash and in-kind donations from businesses and individuals. Advise Education Director on curriculum, program and development strategies related to technical resources. Create long and short term plans for types and layout of technology needed to support Film Center education programs. Write grants and proposals for technology needs.
* Provide instruction to students on equipment and software as requested by Education Director.
* Oversee School of Film Facility, including classrooms, equipment room and digital editing lab; design and management of policies, systems and procedures for equipment circulation, storage, scheduling, maintenance and upgrades. Develop and manage relationships with vendors, technicians, corporate contributors, film industry partners, and manufacturers.
* Recruit, train, schedule and evaluate Education Program Assistants and Education Interns.
* Develop, promote, manage and report on Community Access Rental program.
* Supervise safety and security in the facility. Act as liaison with PAM operations staff.
ADDITIONIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Provide general technical and administrative support: make dubs, set up classrooms, act as film/video projectionist, archive student films/tapes, process rental agreements, gather information for grant proposals and budget reports.
* Attend faculty meetings. Provide technical support to faculty. Other duties as assigned.

The Disembodied Seeking Crew
Pre-production is just beginning on the supernatural thriller The Disembodied. The project is scheduled to begin shooting in September for 30 days. Locations will be in the Portland vicinity. The Disembodied is produced by Martin Wiley and Directed by Brett Donowho. This is a return engagement for Donowho who produced the acclaimed feature The Music Within shot in Portland in 2006. The Oregon Production Investment Fund and the Greenlight Labor incentive programs also played important roles in recruiting this production to Oregon.

Management and Departmental Skills:

Experience:
a) Demonstrated design, motion graphics, motion tracking, and compositing skills related to the 2D and 3D production environment.

Knowledge:
a) Bachelor's degree in a field related to the classes to be taught; Master's degree preferred.

c) A minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
Skills:
a) Candidates must be proficient in Adobe AfterEffects, Maya, Shake (or other 3D compositing applications), Cinema 4D, Flash, and Final Cut Pro.
Working knowledge of HVX cameras and high def formats a plus.

VFX - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR / LEAD ARTIST
4/14/08 Bent Image Lab, Portland Oregon has an immediate need for surface/lighting render TD artist primarily in 3Ds max and V ray. We need someone very adept at special effects realism, and has some exposure to character animation work. Bent's client's include: Office Max, Coke, Geico, Alltell, Tinactin, Microsoft, PBS, Hewlett Packard, Radiohead, and They Might Be Giants.Essential Skills:
3d Studio Max 9, V ray (or similar render package.) Some ability in the following is a plus: Photoshop CS, After Effects, Fume FX, Real Flow, Z-brush, ability to work with CG Hair - all a plus. If you are not familiar with V ray, we accept highly skilled hard workers who light and surface amazing images in other packages, but can adapt and learn quickly to new ones.
Contract work for 6 to 12 weeks duration, perhaps leading to longer employment. Must have exceptional CG/VFX skills, passion, drive and a natural eye for finishing great images with flair.
Must be versatile, flexible and able to work well with others, and willing to do what it takes to make CG look its best. Ability to work with and rig character animation a plus, but not necessary.

The American Media Project is a new nonprofit journalism organization gearing up to produce short video reports about pressing national issues for an influential online audience. We are currently hiring our initial staff and are looking for a producers and associate producers who can research, report, write, shoot and edit video stories, often working as a solo video journalist, sometimes working with teams.
Selected candidate will be responsible for:
Working with print correspondents and senior producers to generate story ideas and produce regular video news reports
Shooting Washington D.C.-based video (interviews and B-roll) on miniDV video cameras with correspondent or independently
Editing on non-linear video editing systems on Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro;
