Oregon Culture Trust: The Video

The Oregon Cultural Trust is a statewide funding agency, fueled by citizen donations. It's the only do-it-yourself way of creating state cultural funding in the nation. When people donate to the Cultural Trust, they reduce their taxes, as long as they've made equal or greater contributions to any number of Oregon's 1,200 cultural nonprofits. Donations to the Cultural Trust return to the community in grants that benefit every county in Oregon. It's true; it's legal; it works. It's the Oregon Cultural Trust.

    Entrepreneurial Development

The Office of Entrepreneurial Development is currently expanding the online Small Business Classroom to create a more comprehensive learning portal - offering courses, workshops, learning tools, information resources and other forms of online technical assistance. The new learning site will take on a new look as the agency’s entire web site is refreshed.

SBA’s current technical assistance programs touch approximately 1.4 million clients annually, most often in face-to-face settings. And, although this is a very large number of clients, it represents only a small percentage of the some 25 million small businesses in this country. When looking to increase the number of clients we serve, we must remember that not all small business owners are within a close proximity to an SBA resource location. In addition, increasingly many potential clients want only to access government services at their convenience, anytime and anywhere.

The new learning site is designed to expand SBA’s electronic dimension and reach more clients more efficiently. It is, however, intended to be part of a balanced approach, such that our expanded online training services will complement and support traditional training initiatives. As such, our online services will be integrated with and leverage our face-to-face training capabilities.

A key component of the expanded site will be the availability of “niche” virtual workshops that are industry specific and meet the day to day needs of small businesses. These events will feature “streamed” presentations from industry experts, live online small business forums and other online educational workshops.
