Gus likes to tell half-true stories about all the girls he's slept with and all the drugs he's done. Jessica is seventeen too. She doesn't seem to have much in common with anyone anymore - not even her best friend Christie. Every year this one guy Brian throws a 4th of July party. The party's never that great, but there's free beer, so people always go. Gus and Jessica meet each other there. They watch fireworks outside and light sparklers. Gus says that he's not the sort of guy she thinks he is. He tells her a secret. Things are different after that.

Willamette Week’s Longbaugh Film Festival Presented by Comcast
The Longbaugh Film Festival celebrates its fifth year March 29-April 1, 2007.
Launching in 2003, the Longbaugh Film Festival quickly made a name for itself as a showcase for quality features, shorts and documentaries from all over the globe, providing an opportunity for audiences to experience a variety of films they might not otherwise see. In 2007, Longbaugh will once again bring an eclectic mix of independent film and video to Portland.
This year Longbaugh kicks off on Thursday, March 29, with a special screening of the documentary Darius Goes West at Living Room Theatres, which serves as a charity fundraiser. Having enjoyed its world premiere just a few weeks ago at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Darius Goes West has already garnered much critical acclaim, and was recently profiled on Nightline. This incredible documentary chronicles an epic journey undertaken by 15 year-old Darius Weems, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, as he tries to get MTV’s Pimp My Ride to customize his wheelchair. Proceeds from the opening night event will go to Charley’s Fund, a non-profit dedicated to fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the number one genetic killer of children in the world.
On Friday, March 30, the Longbaugh Film Festival moves into high gear with an incredible showcase of films at Living Room Theaters, Laurelhurst Theater, and the Clinton Street Theater. Highlights from this year’s selection of films include Hollywood Dreams, from acclaimed director Henry Jaglom, the bizarre-beyond-words Nine Lives of Tomas Katz, and the extended director’s cut of Byron Hurt’s phenomenal documentary Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes. Returning for the third year, Lil’ Longbaugh, provides an international collection of films specifically for children and families.
Since its inaugural year, Longbaugh has prided itself on providing a showcasing for local filmmakers and films produced in Oregon. This year will feature over twenty features, shorts and documentaries with regional ties. Among the highlights of this year’s local selection are Brian Lindstrom’s documentary Finding Normal, and co-directors Adam Green and Joel Moore’s Spiral.
Longbaugh will conclude on Sunday, April 1, with a series of screenings honoring the best films of the festival. Awards will be given out for Best Short, Best Documentary, Best Feature and Best Local Production, with each winner screening at the Living Room Theaters.
