Hood River’s 4-star Indian Creek Golf Club
Description:
The Oregon Media Production Association’s FINAL CUT CLASSIC swings into action on Friday, July 17, with an exciting new venue and more jam-packed fun. Now in its 9th year, the annual benefit event will be held at Hood River’s 4-star Indian Creek Golf Club, which Golf Digest calls “some of the best greens anywhere.” Offered for the first time, the day’s activities have been expanded to include a guided winery tour for non-players and a post-game Skills Challenge. The 120 competitors will also have a chance to vie for $20,000 in prizes.
Open to the public, this year’s Final Cut Classic is expected to attract some 300 members of Oregon’s thriving film, television and commercials community. “It’s a great way to meet people in the industry, ” says OMPA Executive Director Tom McFadden. “Making business happen means making a lot of connections. OMPA and the Final Cut Classic are about offering new resources and opportunities to connect. Of course, it’s also a whole lot of fun. ”
Indian Creek is the perfect environment for a fun and challenging day of golf, as well as one of the most scenic. Indian Creek is certified as an Audobon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audobon International, and is nestled among the rolling hills and fruit orchards of the beautiful Hood River Valley, with exquisite views of both Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood. The club gets its name from one of three meandering creeks that pose interesting challenges on eleven of the holes, which also provide sanctuary to a variety of wildlife. Serious competitors vying for the $15,000 Hole-In-One prize will face dogleg fairways, trees, water hazards, and white-sand bunkers! For more information, go to www.IndianCreekGolf.com .
Registration for the Final Cut Classic will begin at 10 am, with early registration at 9 am, the Putting Contest Qualification Round at 9:30 am, and the Golf Tournament Shotgun Start at 11 am. For non-golfers, the Hood River Valley Wine Tour starts at 1 pm. It all climaxes with the Skills Challenge and $5000 Putting Contest, beginning at 4:30 pm, followed by a fabulous dinner catered by the Divots Clubhouse Restaurant, whose manager, Xani Orton, has pleased palates in both New York and Oregon as Executive Chef and restaurateur.
Sign-up now at www.OMPA.org! This year’s Golf Classic is just $150 per player, includes green fees, cart, lunch and dinner. $85 per person for wine tour and dinner only. $50 per person for dinner only. Registration is only open as long as space is available.
Part of what makes the event exciting is the engaging participation of the sponsors, all of who serve the film, television and multimedia industry. They include: Dinner Sponsor & Putting Contest Sponsor Hays Companies, Lunch Sponsor Downstream, Golf Cart Sponsor Mission Control, Beverage Cart Sponsor Fujifilm, Wine Tour Sponsor Explore the Gorge, Hole-in-One sponsor the Mac Pac, Long Drive Men’s Sponsor Media Solutions, Long Drive Women’s Sponsor Cascade Video Systems, KP Men’s Sponsor Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The Final Cut Golf Classic, founded in 2001, benefits the OMPA, as well as the OMPA’s Media Arts Education Fund, which provides scholarships in the fields of journalism, film, video, audio, photography and multi-media.
